Day One

Hi Everyone,

Today was amazing but very long. Let me start with the fact that i am drinking champagne in bed... I really dont need to say much more right!? i will for the sake of the blog! :)

The flight in wasn't too bad, however, it was longer than I thought it would be... normally I sleep very well on planes, and Frank is wide awake, this time we switched, and I was stuck watching disney movies en Francais! it was quite fun actually.

Our plane was a bit late but we got through customs and found all of our bags right away. We had to bring an extra suitcase to accomodate all of the photography stuff. Not fun carting that around, but we made it and didn't have to go very far with our bags.

The Hudsons arranged for someone to pick us up at the airport, and Noel, was waiting with a sign. To the single ladies, Noel is quite handsome, and was very nice, I didn't see a wedding ring, but I'd be surprised if he wasn't taken. Our drive from the airport took an hour or so, but it didn't seem that long. We did pass by some shanty houses made of cardboard, tarps, and various other materials... it was very sad. Driving in from the airport you get to directly see how the houses/flats get nicer and nicer. We are actually staing in a very "posh" or high class subburb of Paris. It was very strange to see the dicohotomy.

While in the car, Noel phoned ahead to the house to announce our soon arrival and asked if we were hungry for some petite dejourner (aka breakfast). I knew this may be my first opportunity to eat a true French coissant, and jumped at the question
answered yes. I was not disappointed...

We arrived at the house, and met Monique. She is very friendly. She's in her maybe late fifties, but could eaisily past for later fourties. She showed us to the kitchen breakfast table, and we found a wonderful spread of googies waiting for us! Coisants, pain du chocolate (coissants with layers of dark chocolate), bread, butter, jams, cereal, fresh orange juice, milk, coffee, steamed milk. It was all very very good!
We then met Olivier (Olivi-eh) and Crytal. They are the wonderful caretakers of the house. Olivier, is also an amazing chef.
After breakfast, we took a tour of the house, and got settled in. The house is huge, and beautiful, though they are doing some construction. There are 3 floors and a basement with a pool!!! Every floor has several rooms and the are all named after colors. I guess that's the easiest way to remember them, right?
We are staing on the top floor in the blue room... It is georgeous, although it's a bit "matchy-matchy" for Frank. :) Everything is made of the same fabric, the WALLS, the bedspread, the chairs the curtains, the pillows.... Well I guess is it a bit matchy for me too, but it's beautiful, and very well done.
Our bags were kindly brought up for us and we got to settle in a bit before lunch. Lunch, we were told, would be at one O'clock.
We decided to be exacltly on time...

We were greeted by Monique and Olivier, Monique joined us for lunch. Olivier served us an amazing 4 coursed lunch... first was l'augustine(sp?) they're like scampie.... 2nd: a mild white fish, 3rd: cheese. 4th Apple tartlet. SO GOOD....

That's all for Day 1, today was a good day.
